The Short Version
ignitai turns your documents into spreadsheets. Your device reads the text on your pages. Of your documents, only that text, your instructions and the file name are sent to our server, and OpenAI's AI model turns the text and your instructions into rows and columns. Your photos and PDFs never leave your device. ignitai never asks for your name or email, shows no ads and doesn't track you. You can delete any file, or your whole account, from inside the app.
What We Send to Our Server
• To convert: the text read from your pages, your instructions, the file name (taken from your document's name when it has one; you can change it), whether you chose CSV or Excel, and the number of pages.
• To keep your files organized: file names and renames, pins, project names and colors, and the words you search for (search looks at file names only).
• To run your account: a random key the app creates on your device (our server keeps only a one-way hash of it) and, if you sign in with Apple, the identifier Apple gives us.
• For purchases: Apple's signed record of your subscription or page pack.
• For notifications: your device's notification token.
Every connection to our server is encrypted (HTTPS).
AI Processing by OpenAI
ignitai uses OpenAI's AI model to build your table. The first time you convert on each device, the app asks before anything is sent; if you choose Not Now, nothing is sent. OpenAI receives the text read from your pages and your instructions, together with coded identifiers for your account and for the conversion (one-way hashes, not your Apple ID or any personal detail); OpenAI uses the account identifier to detect misuse. It does not receive your file names, your photos or PDFs, your Apple ID, your device details or your IP address. When your conversion ends, we ask OpenAI to delete its copy. By default, OpenAI doesn't use data sent through its API to train its models, and may keep it for up to 30 days to monitor for abuse (see OpenAI's API data policy under Subprocessors). To withdraw your permission, stop converting: nothing more is sent. To remove what we already hold, delete your files or your account.
What Stays on Your Device
Text recognition runs on your device. A password you type to open a PDF is used only on your device: it is never stored or sent. So you can compare a spreadsheet with its original pages and convert again without rescanning, ignitai keeps a copy of the pages you convert on the device that converted them: a reduced-size picture of each page, the PDF's own text when it has some, the file's name and your instructions. This copy is never uploaded or backed up and is limited to 600 MB (the oldest is removed first). It is deleted when, on that same device, you delete the file, sign out or delete your account. Your session and the app's random key are kept in your device's Keychain.
iCloud
If you use iCloud, ignitai keeps three small things in your private iCloud storage, which we can't access:
• your past instructions, so they're one tap away on your other devices (you can delete one or all of them in the app);
• a note that you've finished getting started;
• the app's random key, through iCloud Keychain, so your devices on the same Apple Account share one ignitai account.
Your pages and spreadsheets are never stored in iCloud.
Your Account and Sign in with Apple
You don't need to sign in. On first launch, ignitai creates an account with no personal information, tied only to the app's random key. An account that is never signed in and never used to convert or buy anything is removed 7 days after it was created. Signing in with Apple is optional: it gives you a free first conversion and your files on your other devices. Apple gives us an identifier for your Apple Account that is unique to our apps. ignitai never asks Apple for your name or email, so it never receives them. If you used ignitai before signing in, your files and pages move into your signed-in account.
Your Spreadsheets on Our Servers
Your converted spreadsheets are stored on our servers in the United States, so you can open them again from any of your devices. With each one we keep its name, format, status and dates, and we keep your page balance and the number of pages each conversion used. Spreadsheets stay until you delete them or your account. The text read from your pages and your instructions are kept only while a conversion runs: they are deleted as soon as it finishes or is cancelled, and within 24 hours if it fails.
Notifications and Live Activities
If you allow notifications, ignitai tells you when a spreadsheet is ready, was cancelled or couldn't be converted. These messages include the file's name and are delivered through Apple's push notification service. On iPhone, a Live Activity shows a conversion's progress and the file's name on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island; its token is kept encrypted on our server for no more than 24 hours. Notification tokens are deleted when Apple reports them as no longer valid, or when you delete your account.
Purchases
The subscription and page packs are sold through Apple's In-App Purchase. To unlock them, the app sends our server Apple's signed record of the purchase. We keep its transaction numbers, product, number of pages, purchase date and subscription period, to give you your pages and to handle renewals and refunds, which Apple also reports to our server. A subscription belongs to the ignitai account that first used it. We never receive your payment details, your name or your Apple Account email. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings.
Server Logs and Security
Like most online services, our server records each request it receives (the time, the address requested, which can include a search term or a file's identifier, and your IP address) to keep the service running and secure. These logs never include your documents, their text or your instructions. Our hosting provider keeps only a short rolling log of recent requests, for at most one week. Our server doesn't store IP addresses anywhere else.
No Ads, No Tracking
ignitai shows no ads and contains no third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking code. It doesn't use the advertising identifier (IDFA) or track you across apps or websites. We never sell your data, and we don't share it for advertising.
Ratings and Crash Reports
ignitai may ask Apple to show its standard rating prompt. If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may share crash reports with us, and we use them only to fix bugs.
Children
ignitai is not directed at children. If you believe a child has used ignitai, email support@futuraapp.com and we'll help delete their data.
Deleting Your Data
A file: swipe left on it in your files and tap Delete (iPhone and iPad), or right-click it and choose Delete (Mac), then confirm. Within minutes, we delete the spreadsheet from our servers and anything left from its conversion at OpenAI, and the device you delete it on removes its copy of the pages.
Your account: open your account (the person icon; on Mac, ignitai > Settings… > Manage Account…), choose Delete Account, then confirm. It works whether or not you signed in. We delete your account, all your files and projects, your page balance and your notification tokens from our servers. The device you delete from removes its copy of your pages, and your past instructions are removed from it and from your iCloud. Pages kept on your other devices stay there until you sign out on them or remove the app's data there (see On your device below). Pages you bought are lost, and an active subscription is not cancelled: cancel it in your Apple Account settings.
What we keep: a record of each purchase with no link to you, so a purchase can't be redeemed twice and refunds still match; and, if you signed in with Apple and converted at least one document, a one-way hash of Apple's identifier, so the free first conversion isn't given twice. Neither contains your name, email or files. Our providers' backups, if any, may keep copies for a while after you delete something.
On your device: deleting the app on iPhone or iPad removes the pages and files it kept there, but not its random key and session in your Keychain, so reinstalling ignitai opens the same account until you delete it. On a Mac, macOS keeps an app's data after the app is moved to the Trash; to remove it, delete the folder ~/Library/Containers/com.futuraapp.ignitai. As on iPhone, the random key and session stay in your Keychain, so reinstalling opens the same account until you delete it.
Who Else Handles Your Data
Apart from our email provider, which handles the messages you send to support@futuraapp.com, only the companies listed under Subprocessors handle your data for us, and only to provide their services, under terms that require them to protect it at least as well as this policy does. We don't share your data with anyone else unless the law requires it.
Your Choices and Rights
You can see and export your spreadsheets, and delete your files or your account, in the app at any time. You can also ask us to access, correct or delete your data by emailing support@futuraapp.com. If you're in the UK, the EU or the EEA: we use your data to provide the service you ask for, send your pages' text to OpenAI only with your permission, and keep logs to keep the service secure. You can object to or restrict our use of your data, and complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO). Your data is processed in the United States.

- Heroku (Salesforce, Inc.) (United States) — Runs our server.
- MongoDB, Inc. (MongoDB Atlas) (United States) — Stores accounts, file records, purchase records and, while a conversion runs, its text and instructions.
- Amazon Web Services, Inc. (United States) — Stores your converted spreadsheets.
- Redis Ltd. (Redis Cloud) (United States) — Runs the queue of conversions in progress.
- Apple Inc. (United States) — Delivers notifications, which include the file name, and provides Sign in with Apple and In-App Purchase.
