Which scanners work with the app?
Scanners and multifunction printers that can scan over Wi-Fi without extra software — most recent Wi-Fi printers can (their specifications often say AirScan or eSCL). On the Mac, scanners that work with Image Capture or Preview work too, over Wi-Fi or a USB cable. Your iPhone, iPad or Mac and the scanner need to be on the same Wi-Fi network.
The app doesn't find my scanner.
1. Wake the printer up by pressing any button on it — a sleeping printer can take up to 30 seconds to answer.
2. Make sure your device and the printer are on the same Wi-Fi network (not a guest network), and turn off any VPN.
3. On iPhone or iPad, check that the app may look for devices on your network: Settings › Apps › Scanner Connect › Local Network.
4. Restart the printer and your Wi-Fi router, then tap Try Again.
5. On iPhone or iPad you can also type the printer's IP address: Get Help › Add Scanner by Address. On the Mac, a USB cable works too.

My printer prints over Wi-Fi, but the app doesn't find its scanner.
Some printers share only printing over Wi-Fi, not scanning. Look in the printer's settings, or its maker's app, for an option to scan from a computer or phone over the network, and turn it on. On the Mac, connecting the printer with a USB cable also works.
Does the app scan from the glass or the feeder?
Leave the source on Glass or Feeder: put paper in the feeder and the app uses it; otherwise it scans the glass. You can also choose Glass Only or Feeder Only. If an automatic scan finds nothing on the glass, the app offers to scan from the feeder instead.
How do I scan pages printed on both sides?
If your feeder scans both sides by itself, the app does it automatically and leaves out blank back sides (you can undo that). If your feeder scans one side at a time: scan the stack, and when the app asks “Printed on both sides?”, put the pages back in the feeder exactly as they came out — don't turn them over — then tap Scan Back Sides. The app puts every page in order. If the same sides go through again, the app notices and tells you how to load the pages.
Paper jammed, or two sheets went through together.
Gently pull out the stuck sheet, put it back on top of the pages still in the feeder, and tap Continue Scanning. The pages already scanned are kept, and pages printed on both sides still end up in order.
How do I scan photos?
Choose Photos, then put the photos face down on the glass, straight and a little apart from each other — laying a sheet of dark paper over them helps. Each photo becomes its own picture. If photos were cut apart wrongly, touch and hold one (right-click on the Mac) and choose Keep as One Picture. On iPhone and iPad, photos can be saved straight to the Photos app.
Where do my scans go?
Wherever you choose. Save makes a PDF (or pictures, for photos) in the folder you pick — in Files on iPhone and iPad, or anywhere on your Mac. Send shares it with Mail, Messages, AirDrop and other apps. Every PDF is searchable: its text is read on your device. Pages you haven't saved stay in the app, even if it closes, until you start a new scan.
What's free, and what does the purchase include?
Scanning and previews are free, so you can check that the app works with your scanner first. Saving and sharing your scans need a one-time purchase — no subscription. Buy it once and it works on your Mac, iPhone and iPad with the same Apple Account.
I bought it before. How do I get my purchase back?
Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account, then choose Restore Purchase — in the purchase screen or in Settings, and on the Mac also in the app menu.
