How do I turn a long video into short clips?
Add your video: on iPhone and iPad, tap Photos or Files on Home; on the Mac, click Open Video… or Import from Photos…. Clipolette finds the scenes by itself, and some videos get their best moments automatically. Otherwise, tap Find best moments to get a short list of clips, best one first. Open a clip, add captions and export it.
How does Find best moments choose my clips?
It listens to what people say, plus laughter, applause and cheering, and picks the parts worth posting at the length you choose: 15, 30, 60 or 90 seconds. Each clip tells you why it was picked, and most get a rating: Strong, Good or Worth a look. If nothing stands out, it tells you instead of making up a favorite. Long videos work too, even hours long — the longer the video, the longer it takes.
Why can't I use Find best moments?
Find best moments uses Apple Intelligence. It needs iOS 26, iPadOS 26 or macOS 26 or later on a device that supports Apple Intelligence, with Apple Intelligence turned on in Settings (System Settings on the Mac), and a video where people talk. Without these, you still get your video's scenes: keep the ones you want and drop the rest.
How do I keep the speaker in the frame?
Clips open in 9:16, framed on the face Clipolette finds. In the Crop menu (Auto-Crop on the Mac), Follow Subject keeps the person in frame as they move and switches to whoever is talking when two people share the shot. Blurred Fill keeps the whole picture on a soft blurred background. To place the frame yourself, use Adjust on iPhone and iPad or Manual Crop on the Mac.
How do I add captions?
In the editor, tap or click Add Captions. Clipolette writes English captions from what's said and highlights each word as it's spoken. Pick one of five styles, or your own color and size. You can fix any line, add or delete captions, translate them, and replace a word everywhere at once.
Clipolette says speech recognition isn't available.
Captions and Find best moments use Apple's speech recognition on your device. On iOS 26, iPadOS 26 and macOS 26 or later, Clipolette downloads the English speech model for you the first time (internet needed once). On earlier versions, add English dictation: on iPhone and iPad in Settings › General › Keyboard › Dictation, on the Mac in System Settings › Keyboard › Dictation. If you said no to Speech Recognition, turn it on in Settings › Privacy & Security › Speech Recognition (System Settings on the Mac).
How do I cut pauses and filler words?
On iPhone and iPad, turn on Pauses to cut the dead air and Fillers to cut the “ums” and “uhs”. On the Mac, use Tighten pauses and Remove filler words in the Clip panel. Your captions stay in sync.
How do I trim a clip or slow it down?
Tap Trim in the editor (on the Mac, Trim Scene…), or trim a scene from the scene list, and drag the handles along the sound wave. In the same sheet you can slow a scene to half or quarter speed; slowed parts play without sound.
What is Post Kit?
Post Kit writes an on-screen hook, a title, a caption and hashtags from your clip's captions. Show the hook on your video, then copy the rest into your post. With Apple Intelligence on iOS 26, iPadOS 26 or macOS 26 or later, it writes them for you; without it, they come from your clip's own words.
What's free, and what does the purchase do?
Every tool is free, with no export limit and no subscription. Free exports carry a “Made free with Clipolette” watermark. A one-time purchase removes it for good, and the app shows the price before you buy. When you export, the Remove the watermark screen lets you buy it or choose Export with watermark.
How do I restore my purchase?
Sign in with the Apple Account you bought it with, then choose Restore Purchase: on iPhone and iPad in Settings (the gear on Home), on the Mac in Clipolette › Settings. It's also on the Remove the watermark screen.
Clipolette stopped while it was working.
Keep Clipolette open while it works. On iPhone and iPad it keeps the screen on, but locking your device or switching apps can stop it — tap Start Again or Try Again. On the Mac, keep your Mac awake.
Where are my projects?
On iOS 26, iPadOS 26 and macOS 26 or later, Clipolette saves your projects automatically. Reopen one from Recent Projects on Home (on the Mac, also File › Open Recent). To remove one, choose Delete Project from its menu.
Does Clipolette upload my videos?
No. Everything happens on your device, and there's no account. Your clips go only where you save or share them. See our privacy policy for details.
