How do I convert a file?
Drag any photo, audio, or video file onto the Zumkor window (or click the + button to pick one). On the file's row, click the "Convert to…" button and choose the format or preset you want, then click Convert and pick a folder to save into. Your converted file appears in that folder.
Which formats can Zumkor handle?
Photos: HEIC, JPG, PNG, TIFF, AVIF, and camera RAW (Canon, Nikon, Sony). Audio: MP3, M4A, WAV, AIFF, ALAC, FLAC, and Opus. Video: MP4, MOV, M4V, and MKV — and it also opens tougher files like WebM, AVI, WMV, and AV1 and turns them into MP4. It can also make GIFs and convert subtitles (SRT and VTT).
How do I shrink a video for email, Gmail, or WhatsApp?
Drop the video in, click "Convert to…" on its row, and pick a ready-made size under Quick preset — for example Gmail, Outlook, WhatsApp (16 MB), Discord, iMessage, or Notion. Zumkor compresses the video to fit that limit. Click Convert and choose where to save.
How do I pull the audio out of a video, or make a GIF?
On the video's row, open the "Convert to…" menu. Choose "Get the audio" to save just the sound as an MP3 (or another audio format), or "Make a GIF" to turn a clip into an animated GIF. Then click Convert and pick a folder.
Does Zumkor upload my files? Does it work offline?
No uploads, ever. Every conversion happens on your Mac, and Zumkor has no network access — it works perfectly with Wi-Fi turned off. Your files never leave your computer.
What's free, and what does "Unlock Everything" include?
You get a 7-day free trial of everything. After that you can keep converting a few files a day for free, or buy "Unlock Everything" — a single one-time purchase ($19.99, not a subscription) — for unlimited conversions with no daily limit and no watermark on videos.
There's a "Made with Zumkor" mark on my video. How do I remove it?
Free-tier videos include a small "Made with Zumkor" mark. Buying "Unlock Everything" removes it from every video you convert after that. Photos, audio, GIFs, and subtitles are never watermarked.
How do I unlock or restore my purchase?
Open Zumkor → Settings (⌘,) → the General tab, and find the Full Version box at the top. Click "Unlock Everything — $19.99" to buy, or "Restore Purchase" if you already bought it on this or another Mac. Restoring is free and uses the same Apple Account you purchased with.
Which Macs does Zumkor run on?
Zumkor runs on macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later, on an Apple-silicon Mac (M1 or newer). It is built specifically for Apple silicon to match its bundled converter.
Can it convert RAW photos and HEIC?
Yes. Zumkor opens Canon, Nikon, and Sony RAW files and converts them to JPG or TIFF, and it converts HEIC photos to and from JPG, PNG, TIFF, and AVIF. You can batch a whole folder of them at once.
Can it convert subtitles?
Yes. Zumkor converts subtitle files between SRT and VTT, and can pull the subtitle track out of a video file.
How do I delete my data?
There is nothing to delete on our side — Zumkor has no account and stores nothing about you on any server. Your converted files live wherever you chose to save them, so delete those like any other file. To remove the app itself, drag Zumkor from your Applications folder to the Trash.
